During his visit, Torsten Herbst, a member of the Bundestag, saw for himself the efficiency of the HSZG.
At the beginning of January 2023, the Rector of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Alexander Kratzsch, met with Torsten Herbst, Parliamentary Director of the FDP parliamentary group in the Bundestag, at the Görlitz site of our university. Mr. Herbst, Member of the Bundestag, was accompanied by Kristin Schütz, Chairwoman of the Görlitz District Association of the FDP.
The aim of the joint meeting was to get to know each other. In particular, the Rector presented the performance of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in teaching, research and administration. With a view to Mr. Herbst's field of activity in the German Bundestag, the focus was on federally funded research projects with a focus on energy technology and LaNDER³.
Prof. Kratzsch gave his guests an insight into the Zittau power plant laboratory and the cooperation between Stadtwerke Zittau GmbH and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, which is probably unique in Germany.
He also presented the AQVA HEAT structural change project. As part of this application-oriented project, researchers from the IPM Institute at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences are working on solutions for the thermal use of water. These two examples clearly show that the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is actively involved in the transformation of the energy supply.
