The field of activity of the Institute of Process Engineering, Process Automation and Metrology is more important than ever before. The words in the institute's title clearly describe which technical cross-sectional disciplines can help the economy and thus society to develop new added value in Lusatia.
Sustainable generation, conversion and application of energy remain the main focus, and the project volume was kept constant in 2020. Many new ideas, developed together with practice partners, found their way into the preparation of cooperative projects.
The expertise and skills, but also the commitment of the women and men who work as research staff on the high-quality volume of work is impressive. The achievements under the special conditions of the first Corona year 2020 are clear evidence of this. The mutual help and cooperative collaboration within the institute and with the partners in the administration and the other institutes and faculties had to show itself in a different way than usual this year. And they did.
The large project processing cycle, from the legal and commercial acceptance of orders and funding to cooperative project processing including personnel management, procurement, commissioning and maintenance of experimental facilities and the actual scientific activities, reporting, transfer, maintaining contacts with partners in industry and funding institutions, project development in ideas and concrete plans, applying for or offering - and from the front - are challenging, but intact. Now, in 2021 and beyond, we want to continue to help ensure that increasing prosperity in Lusatia is combined with falling greenhouse gas emissions.
