Dear readers,

Artificial intelligence is currently on everyone's lips again. However impressively well it can now compile and present existing information from all over the world, it does not do the actual work for us energy researchers, even if it can provide us with ever better support.

In 2022, the IPM's tasks were again determined by experimental and theoretical work on the safety and efficiency of energy and environmental technology systems. For example, this concerns the short-term storage of electricity in a plant without "rare earths" as well as the efficient and environmentally friendly disposal of the unavoidable residues from bioenergy and recycling processes. However, our project work is also characterized by creative but complex solutions for linking lightweight construction methods and energy technologies.

The IPM was also an important pillar in the HSCG in 2022 for the fulfillment of the statutory duties of "research" and "transfer".  In addition to fulfilling all project tasks, including the implementation of extensive investment activities - always in cooperation with medium-sized industry and many small companies in the region - we have strongly supported a whole range of transfer formats. These include
