Editorial

These words are addressed to the employees of the Institute of Process Engineering, Process Automation and Metrology (IPM) as well as to our many cooperation partners, colleagues, clients and funding bodies:

The IPM team has been making continuous contributions to applied research for years, especially in the field of energy technology. Competent and experienced employees work with commitment and foresight on future topics for Lusatia, always having to shoulder new tasks in new projects at short intervals. In 2021, further fruits of years of project development and preparation could be harvested. Newly developed tasks resulting from the interweaving of engineering disciplines, for example. The IPM in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute IWU received funding approval for one of the first projects financed from the structural funding for the Lusatia coal region in 2021. It is called "Lightweight construction and energy technology".

The principle of the IPM remains to investigate complex energy technology systems experimentally and develop them further step by step, to apply mathematical methods for data processing and to develop offers for industry and society together with our students and with clients  and funding bodies.
