Experiments can now be carried out on THERESA over several days.
In September, Mr. Gubsch successfully completed his training as a boiler attendant. As part of his scientific work in the IPM's Measurement Technology/Process Automation department, Mr Gubsch is working on the development and experimental qualification of thermal energy storage systems in the research project "Highly transient thermal energy storage system for plant-friendly and energy-efficient flexibilization of thermal energy plants".
Further training is required in order to be allowed to operate the THERESA test facility in the Zittau power plant laboratory, which is subject to monitoring. Mr. Gubsch is now part of a team of three boiler attendants at the THERESA test facility. The necessary long-term experiments lasting several days can now also be carried out as part of the research project.
As part of the three-week course, which was financially supported by the university, theoretical and practical knowledge about the safe operation, maintenance and servicing of steam boiler systems and their safety equipment was taught. In addition, instruction was given with reference to the legal and normative regulations, such as the Product Safety Act, the Pressure Equipment Directive and the Technical Rules for Operational Safety.
The institute management congratulates Mr. Gubsch on passing the examination and wishes him every success in his future work.
