Zittau, May 14, 2019: Top group rankings for the HSZG in the CHE University Ranking 2019/20
There is no such thing as "the best university", not for one subject and certainly not for all subjects. For example, a university can be top in research, but its facilities for students can be pathetic, or it can be strong in the natural sciences but weak in economics.
With over 150,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences examined, the Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE) ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of universities in the German-speaking world. In Saxony, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is one of eight universities that have currently been surveyed.
This year, three faculties and six degree programs at the HSZG were examined. The courses of study were classified according to a wide range of criteria: from the range of courses on offer to the condition of the laboratories.
Our subjects/subject groups Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering/Applied Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Engineering Sciences, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics all scored above average, represented by at least one top group.
In the current CHE Ranking, which is published in the new ZEIT Study Guide 2019/20, the subjects of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and Mechatronics scored highly. They scored particularly well in terms of support at the start of studies, laboratory equipment, involvement in research and close links to practice.
The universities were divided into a top, middle and bottom group for each subject and criterion. The CHE University Ranking includes both student assessments and facts on teaching and research. The following indicators in particular played a role:
