From chaff straw to artificial intelligence

The State Funding Project Conference 2021 presents news from the world of research at the HSCG.

The State Parliament Funding Project Conference is an annual meeting for exchange between researchers who receive Saxon research funding for HAW. It is also an opportunity for non-members of the university to gain an insight into research at the HSCG.

Due to the pandemic, the LMPK 2020 was canceled and "replaced" by videos of selected research projects.(Here is an example.) This year, the conference took place digitally on June 23 - as a lecture part in the BigBlueButton (BBB) and with a subsequent poster session in Gather.town (organized by Saxony5).

After a brief welcome by the Vice-Rector Research Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Raj Kollmorgen, fifty participants, mainly from the university, listened to the seven presentations and discussed the research results, some of which were still preliminary:

  • Jakob Hildebrandt: Climate neutrality of industrial companies in eastern Saxony
  • Jens Meinert: Determination of the thermophysical material data of phase change materials (PCM) for latent heat storage
  • Gerd Fischer: Characterization and avoidance of defects in hybrid perovskite materials
  • Robin Tannert: Material utilization of chaff straw
  • Paul Ebert: How can artificial intelligence be made more accessible and applicable for SMEs?
  • Christian Vogel: What role does edge and cloud computing play in the use of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)?
  • Bill Pottharst: Determinants of the successful integration of digital assistance systems/aids into the support networks of older people (VATI-IV)

The subsequent digital poster session almost gave rise to something of a conference atmosphere, as participants were able to meet at each poster in a video conference separate from the other posters and discuss the poster. This was very well received - and can still be tried out here: (password: Landtagsmittel).

Research is being done here!

If you would like to take a look at the posters (including those on the topics of the presentations) at your leisure, you are welcome to download the poster brochure.

Many thanks to all speakers and participants of the LMPK, and of course also to the organizers from staff units, the administration and projects of the HSZG.
