First boiler attendants at IPM

IPM employees successfully complete training course to become certified boiler attendants.

Shortly before Easter, Mr. Klette and Mr. Braun successfully completed their training as boiler attendants. The two colleagues are working in the IPM, Department of Measurement Technology/Process Automation under the direction of Prof. Kratzsch as part of the research project "Highly transient thermal energy storage system for a plant-friendly and energy-efficient flexibilization of thermal energy plants" funded by the European Union and the Free State of Saxony on the development and experimental qualification of thermal energy storage systems.

In the course of the approval of the THERESA test facility in the Zittau power plant laboratory, further qualification of the scientific staff was required, in particular to ensure the safe operation of the THERESA test facility and thus the safety of the Zittau power plant laboratory. In addition, instruction was given with reference to the legal and normative regulations, such as the Product Safety Act, the Pressure Equipment Directive and the Technical Rules for Operational Safety.

Mr. Klette and Mr. Braun successfully passed the written and oral examinations as well as the practical part of the training.

This means that the entire university now has two qualified contact persons for all aspects of steam boiler systems.

The institute management congratulates both colleagues on passing their exams and wishes them every success in their future work.
