Experts from Germany, Austria, Poland and Switzerland met in Zittau.
The 12th Magnetic Bearing Technology Workshop took place at the HSZG at the beginning of September. Experts from companies, universities and colleges accepted the invitation from the IPM's Mechatronic Systems department and used the two days to exchange experiences in the field of magnetic bearing technology. The program included specialist presentations as well as visits to the test facilities for magnetic bearing research.
This year's 12th Zittau-Chemnitz Magnetic Bearing Technology Workshop continues a series of events that began 25 years ago with the 1st workshop in Zittau in 1994. While magnetic bearings were initially special or niche solutions, magnetic bearings have now achieved product status in numerous applications. In addition to the availability of increasingly powerful components, for example in control or power electronics, this is also due to the use of modern, computer-aided methods in the design and construction of magnetic bearings. The consistent further development of magnetic bearing technology and its advantageous application in industry and energy technology lead to an increase in energy efficiency, safety and reliability of systems and a reduction in environmentally harmful emissions. New fields of application also arise from current developments in energy supply or the digitalization and networking of industrial production - Industry 4.0. In this sense, the workshop was once again the podium for scientists, developers, manufacturers and users for the further advancement of this technology.
