I am a mechatronics engineer and project developer at the Institute for Process Technology, Process Automation and Measurement Technology (IPM). For 20 years, I have worked at the interface of research and industry, turning research into practical innovation – from the initial idea to technology transfer.
I develop mechatronic systems, integrate AI methods early in the development process, and lead international industrial projects throughout the entire development cycle – from proof of concept to market launch. My work is driven by sustainable value creation, societal impact and long-term resilience.
I am particularly interested in the future-oriented fields of human health, energy, materials and aerospace. I aim to contribute and further develop my cross-industry experience, focus on technology transfer and enthusiasm for key technologies in these areas.
To me, technology transfer means identifying emerging trends early and turning them into viable innovations together with companies and research networks. As a lecturer and innovation mentor, I help emerging talent make future scenarios tangible and bring human-technology innovations to life.
- Mechatronic systems engineering: design, modelling, dynamic simulation, control and experimental validation
- Active magnetic bearings and turbomachinery: rotor dynamics, sensing, control and touchdown bearings for demanding operating conditions
- Energy conversion and storage: high-speed flywheel energy storage, grid integration and techno-economic assessment
- Hybrid engineering methods and AI: combining physics-based models with machine learning for simulation, forecasting, pattern recognition and condition monitoring
- Modelling and simulation: I develop physics-based models of mechatronic and energy systems, run dynamic simulations and investigate control strategies.
- Experimental work and validation: I develop test and measurement setups, commission systems and compare model predictions with experimental data.
- Data analysis and AI: I analyse measurement data and combine machine learning with physics-based models where it improves forecasting or condition assessment.
- Project development and mentoring: I develop interdisciplinary R&D projects with research and industry partners and support students in their research.
