The Institute of Process Technology, Process Automation and Measuring Technology (Institut für Prozesstechnik, Prozessautomatisierung und Messtechnik; IPM) was founded 1993. Over the past few years, it has developed into the research engine of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The IPM carries out application-oriented research and development work in the fields of energy technology and mechatronics. With approximately 40 employees and four professors, each representing a department, the IPM is the largest structural unit at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, around 20 students from home and abroad doing there internship or thesis at the institut. Together they work using a laboratory space of 1.400 m² with a modern research infrastructure and at 70 computer workplaces.
IPM has its focus on power technology and mechatronics. Particularly against the background of structural change in the Lusatian region, the IPM is making important contributions to meeting upcoming challenges.
